All meetings are held in the Dublin City Library & Archive, Pearse St., Dublin 2 and, apart from AGM, are open to non members. There is no charge and no booking is required.

As in previous years the Irish Genealogical Research Society - Ireland Branch is inviting members of IFHS to join them on their Summer outing. Please make bookings direct with IGRS, see contact details below.

SUMMER OUTING: Saturday 26 th June 2010

 

Visit to Tintern Abbey, Dunbrody Abbey and J.F.K. Arboretum, County Wexford

 

Cost per person: €55 (includes travel by coach, all entrance fees, morning refreshments, lunch and afternoon tea).

Please assemble at:

8. 30 am (sharp! ): Coach departing from National Museum , Kildare St., Dublin 2.

Morning:   Refreshments in Ferrycarrig Hotel.

Midday :   Tour of Tintern Abbey, Hook Peninsula.

Lunch:     Neville’s Restaurant, Fethard on Sea, County Wexford.   

Afternoon:   Tour of Dunbrody Abbey.

Followed by:   Tour of J.F.K. Arboretum and Afternoon Tea.

8.30 pm:   Approximate time of arrival back in Dublin.

Tuesday 24 August 2010 Outing Morning

 

Visit to the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2.

 

A member of the RIA staff will give a tour of the library which also includes the current exhibition on ‘Mapping Urban Ireland’.

Restricted to members only

Admission is free

 

Following our tour, members are welcome to attend the free public lunchtime lecture at 1.00pm,

Friday 15th - Sunday 17th Oct. 2010 - The Over 50’s Show, RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin.

Visit the IFHS stand during the show.

 

The Over 50’s Show has taken place each year for several years and attracts over 20,000 visitors over the 3 days of the Show.

This year, for the first time, a section of the Show is being devoted to Irish History, Genealogy and Heritage. The Irish Family History Society will have a stand in this section and will be promoting the aims and objectives of our Society, and offering assistance to those searching for their roots.

Members of the Society will be made most welcome if they call at the stand and meet with those members manning the stand. Please also encourage friends and neighbours to drop by.
