All meetings are held in the Dublin City Library & Archive, 138/144 Pearse St., Dublin 2 and, apart from the AGM, are open to non members. There is no charge and no booking is required.

IFHS Meetings and Outings 2016

 

A.G.M.

The Societies A.G. M. will be held on Saturday 7th May in the morning along with two afternoon speakers.

Followed by two afternoon lectures which are open to non-members.

We will also have our BOOK STALL which will include all available back issues of our annual Journal. A Raffle will also be held.


Monday 29th February 2016

Guided tour, with Donal Fallon (Come Here To Me), of the
Citizens in Conflict: Dublin 1916 Exhibition currently being held in Dublin
City Library & Archive, 138-144 Pearse Street, Dublin 2.


Meeting time is 11.20 a.m. (sharp) to start at 11.30 a.m.

The Tour will last 30 minutes approx.

Citizens in Conflict: Dublin 1916 is a multi-media exhibition which includes
eye witness accounts and sources such as Dublin Fire Brigade logbook. It has
a particular focus on the Pearse Street area of the city (formerly Great
Brunswick street) where Patrick and Willie Pearse grew up and where Boland's
Mill garrison was commanded by Eamon de Valera. It also remembers the 257
civilians who were killed during the rising including 40 children. This
exhibition, in English and Irish, will continue until the end of June.

There is no charge for this event and the Tour will last 30 minute approx.

Numbers are strictly limited to 20 so early booking is advised. If the
number of members wishing to attend exceeds this number, we may be able to
book a future date if still available.

Visit to Marsh’s Library, Dublin.

A visit has been arranged to visit Marsh's Library, St Patrick's Close, Dublin 8.

Meeting time 10.45 a.m. (sharp) to start at 11.00 a.m. and will include a Tour of Marshs' Library.

There is no charge for this event and the visit will last about 2 hours.
